The Ghana Muslim Students Association (GMSA) has rebuked the establishment of the LGBTIQ+ secretariat and its activities and has therefore launched a campaign agaist the formation and the legalization of their community in Ghana.
In a press statement shared with listengh.net, the association indicated that it is against the will of the creator and the teachings of the Prophet Muhammed and must not be condoned in our society. Therefore, the association is notifying the general public and all authorities that as the largest Islamic Association in Ghana reject without revocation the attempt to establish an office complex for the LGBT (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, transgender) community.
According to the Muslim students’ group, they are not only against the establishment of the LGBTQI+ secretariate but also their activities since they believe their activities are evil and against religious standards.
“We do not only speak against the establishment of their secretariat but we also condemn all their activities. Their activities are indeed evil and against religious and moral standards; historically, a nation (Sodom and Gomora) was destroyed because of these ill practices. LGBT is clearly outlawed in the teachings of Islam, Christianity, and the Ghanaian tradition and for that matter has no basis to survive in this country”, they added.
With their reference to the Quran and the Bible, they indicated that none of the Holy Books seconds the LGBT hence the need for the Ghanaian society to frown on it.
“As stated in Leviticus 20:13 if a man practices homosexuality, having sex with another man as with a woman, both men have committed a detestable act. They must both be put to death, for they are guilty of a capital offense”. Also, Ibn Abbas reported that the Prophet (peace be upon Him) said, if you find anyone doing as Lot’s people did, kill the one who does it and the one to whom it is done (Abu Dawood 38:4447). Furthermore, it is stated in the Holy Quran, chapter 7:81 “Indeed, if you practice your lusts on men in preference to women; you are indeed a people transgressing beyond bounds”-they admonished.
The GMSA is therefore calling on His Excellency the President of the Republic of Ghana, the Muslim community, the Christendom, and all Ghanaians to join hands and fight this evil that is dawning on us.
