The Ghana Education Service service in collaboration with the National Council for Curriculum Assessment (NaCCA) is organizing a five-day trainer of trainers workshop for teachers. This is in line with the introduction of the new curriculum known as the Common Core Programme (CCP) which will be implemented next academic year.
Reports from some various regional capitals indicate that the workshop which was supposed to be fully ended on the 30th of December, 2020 has just ended abruptly over allowances supposed to be paid to teachers and poor conditions such as inadequate sleeping places and poor meals being served.
Reports reaching listengh.net indicates that the participants of the CCP Trainer of trainers workshop in Tamale have boycotted the workshop over poor feeding, accommodation and T&T.
Reports from the Bono, Bono East, and Ahafo region is no different as teachers argued that the amount(GH₵200) allocated for the five-day workshop is insignificant considering the number of days. The ongoing CCP workshop has been prematurely brought to an end at the Sunyani Technical University due to poor conditions and remunerations.
However, some participants are of the view that it is high time the continuous disrespect for teachers and the teaching profession seizes and shall not be tolerated during the ongoing workshop. Teachers are therefore calling on the Ministry of Education (MOE) and the Ghana Education Service(GES) to as a matter of urgency address their concerns to prevent any future inconveniences.
