The Ghana Education Service (GES) has disclosed the period for the commencement of registration of final year Junior High School students for the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE).
In a press release signed by the Director of Schools and Instructions at the GES, Mrs. Patty E Assan shared with listengh.net indicates that the registration of candidates for the BECE for School Candidates, 2021 will commence from 15th March to 14h May, 2021.
According to the service, due to the prevailing pandemic situation, the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) could not organise its planned briefing of Metropolitan/ Municipal/District Directors, Examinatlon Officers and IT Personnel.
Therefore, in order to ensure that the officials are adequately equipped to handle the registration processes effectively and efficiently, the WAEC has prepared the enclosed material (audio/visual notes on BECE for School Candidates, 2021 registration) and the timelines of key activities to facilitate the registration processes.
The Basic Education Certificate Examination is available to students in their final/third year in Junior High Schools
According to GES, it is illegal to register students who are;
- Not in your school or from other schools;
- Not in form 3;
- Re-sitters (Re-sitters are to register for BECE for Private candidates, 2021).

REGISTRATION OF CANDIDATES
This is to be carried out in Three Phases:
Phase 1- Capture of bio data, subject selection and pictures of candidates – 15th March-14th
Phase 2 – Capture of Continuous Assessment Scores 14th June-30th July, 2021
