A group of people labeling themselves as the Coalition of National Service Personel Owed Allowance Arrears in a press release is demanding for payment of allowance owed them by the National Service Scheme (NSS). According to the press release sighted by listengh.net, the group asserted that not all service personnel have received August, September, and October allowances especially some newly trained teachers from Colleges of Education who started their service in January 2020 hence they smell something fishy about the payment. The group is however calling on H.E Nana Akufo-Addo to intervene.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE TO ALL MEDIA HOUSES.
Pay us our allowance arrears now—
COALITION OF NATIONAL SERVICE PERSONEL OWED ALLOWANCE ARREARS
We the above group refer to a press release from National service Secretariat dated Friday 20th November, 2020 under the heading “National service allowances for September and October 2020 paid.”
In the said press release the writer (Corporate Affairs Directorate of the National Service Scheme NSS) stated categorically that service personnel allowances for the months of September and October have been paid to all national service personnel.
We the victims of the unpaid allowances for the month of September and October want to inform the scheme and the general public that this is not true. Not all service personnel have received September and October allowances especially some newly trained teachers from Colleges of Education who started their service in January 2020. Some of us have not received allowances for August, September, and October. The scheme (NSS), claiming it has paid all national service personnel allowances is a false publication and unfortunate.
We reported severally to the district and regional Offices of the scheme but to no avail. When we called the national service scheme helpline and reported to them that they are owing us allowance arrears, the respondent asked if we have been posted by GES and we said yes. Then he said, since we have been posted by GES then we should forget about the allowance arrears.
On Thursday 26th November 2020 the scheme paid transportation allowance to the newly trained teachers service personnel from Colleges of Education but refused to pay the August, September and October allowances (backlogs).
We have a reason to believe that something scandalous is happening relating to the payment of personnel allowances at the scheme’s headquarters. Whatever it is, we don’t know but what we know is that, we deserve to be paid our allowances.
We call on His Excellency, the President, Nana Addo Dankwah Akofo Addo, the Executive Director, Hon. Mustapha Ussif (National service scheme) as a matter of urgency to pay us now (victims of allowance arrears August, September, October, and December ) or we advise ourselves.
We also call on the relevant stakeholders and general public to intervene for us
We also deserve better:
Doing national service doesn’t mean we are slaves.
We are giving the National service scheme 7 days to pay us or else……
