NEW: GES launches hotlines for teachers to call in case of suspicion of an outbreak

The Ghana Education Service (GES) as part of the guidelines for making the schools safe for both teaching and non-teaching staff has launched an emergency service unit to cater for any emergency case in relation to the novel virus.

According to the new guidelines, teachers or the team responsible for managing any outbreak must call 112 or 311 or link up with local district health authorities for immediate evacuation or medical help.

However, in a situation where the student becomes ill when at home the parents or guardians are to immediately get the school and the district health authorities.

Meanwhile, according to the Ghana Education Service, it is committed to the health and safety of all staff including learners hence the need to put this measure in place to prevent any outbreak as school resumes.
