Schools will not be closed down despite the rising number of new covid-19 cases-Deputy DG, GES

Dr. Kwabena Bempah-Tandoh -Deputy Director-General for Quality and Access of the Ghana Education Service

The Deputy Director-General of the Ghana Education Service (GES), Dr. Kwabena B. Tandoh has disclosed that students in the basic and senior high school level will not be allowed to go home despite the increasing number of coronavirus cases currently. He made this disclosure in an interview on Genesis radio 88.5 FM on Wednesday, 18th November 2020.

In his submission, he urged the general public and all educational stakeholders to disregard a press statement making rounds entailing a message of second closure of schools by the Ministry of Education.

According to the deputy director, strict measures have been put in place to prevent both teachers and students from contracting the virus.

He, however, disclosed that the President of Ghana, H.E Nana Akufo Addo is much concerned with the well-being of the students hence he will make decisions to endanger their lives.
