The Ghana National Association of teachers (GNAT) upon seeking for clarifications the 3 semester programme from the University of education, Cape coast on the 25th of the October, 2020, The Director of Educational Development and Outreach, Prof. Christine Adu-Yeboah, she gave the following explanation to some of the mind bothering questions about the programme as:
READ: UCC 3-sem. top-up applicants to be given admissions in the first week of November and begin online lectures
MAJOR PROGRAMMES TO BE OFFERED FOR THE TOP-UP
There are three major programmes to be offered. They are
B.Ed. (Post Diploma) in Early Childhood Education
B.Ed. (Post-Diploma) in Primary Education
B.Ed.(Post -Diploma) in Junior High School (JHS) Education
SELECTION OF ELECTIVE SUBJECT
Prospective applicants were required to choose an area of specialization under the programmes mentioned above which he/she:
a) wants to teach,
b) pursued as an elective subject at the College of Education or
c) would like to progress on that line to even pursue Master’s Degree.
However, applicants who did general courses at the Colleges of Education, they were still required to choose an elective subject.
PROGRAMME AND STUDY CENTRES
When the advertisement was floated, some of the Study Centres were over-subscribed while others were under – subscribed.
For example, a study centre which has capacity of about 1000 got over 3000 applicants choosing that Center in this case the university will have to re-assign the over-subscribed applicants to study centres taken into consideration the facilities in those Centres and courses offered by the Centre for the College of Education Students.
In the case of programmes which were under-subscribed, plans are being made to such applicants into a convenient study center.
