Gone were the days where students from the various senior high schools could revisit public Senior High Schools to rewrite their failed papers. The introduction of the Free Senior High School Education programme has turned things the other way round.
Currently, students who are not able to pass their exams in SHS will not be given another opportunity to re-sit in a public school.
With regards to this particular mind bothering issue, The Deputy Director-General in charge of Quality and Access of the Ghana Education Service, Dr. Kwabena Bempah-Tandoh in an interview monitored by listengh.net stated emphatically that students who do not sit up and learn in senior high schools will not be giving another opportunity to rewrite in any public SHS in the country.
“Students who fail and wish to go to public SHS to rewrite is impossible but rather students can register to write the private exams conducted by WAEC popularly known as NOV/DEC. Students who still have the interest in attending public SHS after failing their WASSCE are supposed to sit for the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) since the free SHS was mainly designed for Junior High School graduates”, he stated.
He urged such individuals to write the NOV/DEC to help climb the academic ladder
