Teachers to boycott school over assault of headteachers, calls for GNAT & CoHBS to intervene.

A release sighted by listengh.net indicates that all teachers within the Nyohini circuit in the Tamale Metro have decided to boycott school.

According to the secular, headteachers are frequently assaulted for no crime committed.

“On the 20th of January, 2021, a meeting of heads was convened at the Nyohini Presby JHS block ‘B’ by the circuit supervisor on administrative issues of the circuit. Right after the meeting, a group of six macho men besieged the school premises and attacked a number of headteachers and the circuit supervisor without any apparent reason. In the process the Headteacher for Nyohini Presby JHS Block ‘B’ (Rev. Lawrence Yiripare) was beaten mercilessly with two others”, the statement revealed.

The said teachers and the headteachers in the above-mentioned circuit in the Tamale Metro however express their displeasure towards the barbaric treatment being meted out to them and wants the Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT) and the Conference of Heads of Basic Schools (CoHBS) to intervene and ensure that the perpetrators are brought to book.

They however threatened to boycott school beginning from Friday 28th January 2021 if the matter is not fully resolved within the shortest possible time.

“We are equally serving a notice that all teachers within the circuit are boycotting school from tomorrow Friday the 29th of January 2021 until the issue is fully resolved”, they threatened.
